Sen. Fitzgerald Statement on Hutchison’s Run for 1st SD

Former Representative Dave Hutchison (R-Dyckesville) announced his bid for the 1st
Senate District seat, following Senator Alan Lasee's announcement that he will retire.
Senate Republican Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) released the following statement
in response:

I am pleased to have Dave Hutchison join the race for the seat being vacated by
Senator Alan Lasee. As a lifelong resident of the 1st Senate District, Dave shares
the same morals and values of this 54.4% Republican-leaning district. Attorney
General J.B. Van Hollen won the 1st Senate District with 53.8% of the vote in
2006.

Dave brings with him years of experience both as a business-owner and a former
state representative that will serve him well as a future state senator. His common
sense approach to job creation and tax relief will be a valuable asset next session
as Republicans work to bring our state out of recession and into economic
prosperity.
